FMX RIDER OF THE DECADE VOTE Legends Day 11 – Mat Rebeaud
Hello, my name is Mat Rebeaud. I was born and raised in Payerne, Switzerland by a motocross family. My grand-father rode motocross as well as my father. I was lucky enough to get my first bike at the age of 4 and spent all of my childhood racing. In 2002 I turned professional when I was 20. I began to ride freestyle in addition to my racing about 5 years ago. After a while, freestyle was taking more and more of my time because I was riding contests and doing demos. I decided to stop racing motocross professionally and just focused on riding freestyle. I started by riding the IFMXF tour events and finally won the Night of the Jumps Championship in 2005 and the FIM World Championship in 2006. Then I decided I really wanted to ride in the United States, where the best riders were so I moved over there in summer 2005, at least for a while. I’ve spent the past couple of years going back and forth between Europe and the US, riding contests and demos. My move paid off in 2006 with a Silver Medal at Winter X-Games 10 and another Silver Medal at Summer X Games 12. Now, I really want to keep on riding in the US, as well as in Europe. My goal is to ride the Summer X-Games and to make good results in the major events and contests. I hope to continue to progress in my discipline and to keep on learning new tricks…
